Some basic commands to help with use of the chat (remove all [ and ] marks)
Change your nickname: /msg NickServ [newnickname]
Register your nickname: /msg NickServ register [password] [email]
Identify (if nickname is registered): /msg NickServ identify [password]
To join another channel: /join #[channel]
To PM someone in the chat: /query [nickname]
